Job Summary
The Steel Draftsman will be responsible for producing accurate steel shop drawings, fabrication drawings, erection drawings, and 3D models for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. This role requires extensive and advance experience in Advance Steel, Tekla Structures, and AutoCAD.
Key Responsibilities
✓ Develop detailed structural steel models using Advance Steel and Tekla Structures.
✓ Prepare fabrication, assembly, and erection drawings for structural steel projects.
✓ Produce General Arrangement (GA) drawings, shop drawings, single-part drawings, and material take-offs.
✓ Generate NC files, CNC data, and bills of materials for fabrication purposes.
✓ Review engineering and architectural drawings to identify design requirements and detailing needs.
✓ Coordinate with structural engineers, project managers, fabricators, and site personnel to resolve design and detailing issues.
✓ Ensure all drawings comply with Australian Standards, project specifications, and fabrication requirements.
✓ Revise and update drawings based on engineering changes, RFIs, and client comments.
✓ Maintain drawing registers and document control processes.
Qualifications
✓ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or any related field.
✓ Minimum 3 years of structural steel detailing experience, preferably on Australian projects.
✓ Advanced proficiency in Advance Steel, Tekla Structures, and AutoCAD.
✓ Strong understanding of steel detailing principles.
✓ Knowledge of Australian Standards in Design, Detailing, Fabrication, and Erection of Structural Steel.
✓ Willing to work on-site
